This building determines how many trains you can actively use at any one time (excluding bonus trains, the Career Engine, the Pollux, and the Magnus). By upgrading the Engine house you can operate more trains, haul more goods or passengers, and earn more money. However, the building can only be upgraded to a certain level within each era, as per the table below:

This building always starts at level 1, irrespective of the era you start the round on. Any additional trains owned can be stored within the Museum.
Construction
The upgrade time can be reduced by upgrading your Construction Yard. On x2 speed worlds the upgrade time is reduced to 50% and on x4 worlds to 25%.
