Era 5 Cargo Engines

The fifth Era has 7 cargo engines, with one being a bonus engine.


You can open new engines by using research points generated by the Laboratory building within your Train Station. Only when you've researched the required pre-requisites can you begin to develop the next engine. At the end of each era, a coupling system is available, allowing engines to transport goods from the next era.


Note: No passenger engines are available to research on the American Dream scenario.


  • Unicorn
    • Requirements
      • Research Cost: 50 Research Points

  • Medusa
    • Requirements
      • Research Cost: 65 Research Points
    • Slots: 1 | Reliability: 65% | Acceleration: 16/20 | Speed: 250 km/h | Tractive Force: 6
  • Basilisk
    • Requirements:
      • Research the Unicorn or Medusa & their required upgrades
      • Research Cost: 55 Research Points
    • Slots: 1 | Reliability: 75% | Acceleration: 8/20 | Speed: 140 km/h | Tractive Force: 8
  • Satyr
    • Requirements:
      • Research the Basilisk and its Acceleration & Tractive force upgrades
      • Research Cost: 70 Research Points
    • Slots: 1 | Reliability: 60% | Acceleration: 3/20 | Speed: 280 km/h | Tractive Force: 9
  • Leviathan
    • Requirements:
      • Research the Aten and all its Level I upgrades on American Dream Scenario only
      • Research the Satyr & its Max. speed I, Tractive force I & Reliability upgrades
      • Research Cost: 75 Research Points

  • Centaur
    • Requirements:
      • Research the Leviathan and its Tractive Force I, Acceleration & Max. speed upgrades
      • Research Cost: 85 Research Points
    • Slots: 4 | Reliability: 80% | Acceleration: 20/20 | Speed: 135 km/h | Tractive Force: 33
  • Sphinx (Bonus)
    • The Sphinx is the Cargo Bonus Engine of Era 5. It can be bought in the Rail Nation Shop and can be won through the Lottery or by entering competitions in Era 6.
