Competitions in Rail Nation are a dynamic feature that add depth, strategy, and a sense of rivalry to the game. They’re a fantastic way to earn rewards, showcase your logistics skills, and contribute to your city's development. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned rail baron, understanding how competitions work will help you thrive.
What Are Competitions?
Competitions are timed events that challenge you to deliver a specific good—or passengers—as quickly and efficiently as possible. They occur every 6 hours in each city (or every 3 hours on 2x speed servers). Participating is open to all players connected to the city at the time.
Your goal:
Deliver as much of the required good as you can within the time window. The faster and more efficiently you deliver, the better the rewards!

Licence Vouchers

Lottery Tickets
The better your performance, the better your loot!
Competition Levels (Prestige-Based Tiers)
Competitions scale based on the experience level of players (measured in prestige). Here’s how the levels are structured:
Level 1 – 0 Prestige
Level 2 – 2,500 Prestige
Level 3 – 10,000 Prestige
Level 4 – 25,000 Prestige
Level 5 – 50,000 Prestige
Level 6 – 100,000 Prestige
Level 7 – 150,000 Prestige
Level 8 – 200,000 Prestige
Important Notes:
The competition level is based on the highest prestige players in the city.
At least 10 players from a given prestige tier must be present for that level to be active.
If fewer than 10 players qualify, the event drops to a lower level.
The city’s overall level does not impact rewards—player prestige does.
Timing & Overlapping Events
Competitions are scheduled into time slots, and cities may share these slots.
If you’re connected to multiple cities with overlapping competition times, it’s because those cities are in the same slot.
City Competitions (which group five cities for a two-hour challenge) are distinct from standard competitions.
Special Rewards: Bonus Engines & Passenger Challenges
Some competitions reward players with a Bonus Engine—a special train that boosts your network.
Cargo competitions can offer cargo bonus trains.
Passenger competitions (which only occur in 1 out of every 9 events) may reward passenger bonus trains. They’re rarer but valuable!
Pro Tips for Success
Coordinate with your city mates to avoid supply bottlenecks.
Use licenses wisely for higher profits and faster deliveries.
Keep an eye on the timer—late deliveries won’t count.
Upgrade your engines and tracks to stay ahead of the competition.
Don’t miss the rarer passenger competitions—they’re a great chance to grab a powerful bonus engine.
By mastering competitions in Rail Nation, you'll not only improve your own standing but also help elevate your city’s status. Embrace the challenge, fine-tune your strategy, and ride your way to victory!
