Rail Nation's seasonal events transform your railway empire into a themed world, packed with exclusive quests, themed rewards, and limited-time challenges.
This guide covers the shared mechanics that apply across all seasonal events (Winter, Summer, and beyond).
Find the Event Market
A short time before the event starts, a new building — the Event Market — appears in your train station. Click its icon to open the event screen, showing your Event Coins, resources, trading menu, event board, and progress.
Earn Event Coins
Complete quests for steady rewards.
Everyday actions (station bonuses, train repairs, lottery tickets, building track) have a ~10% chance per hour to grant a bonus coin.
Trade Event Resources
Use Event Coins to buy exclusive event resources (typically five kinds), individually or in boxes (one fixed + one random item).
Prices change hourly based on supply and demand — buy when cheap, sell when prices are high.
Work the Event Board
The board is a trail of fields leading to a bonus ticket. Each field shows the resource needed to reveal it — invest that resource to move forward.
You receive a bonus ticket either by reaching the end of the trail, or randomly while revealing fields along the way.
Once you claim a bonus ticket, the board resets and you can work your way through it again.
Bonus tickets are your main source of diamonds, and carry a slim chance of dropping a Special Locomotive (era-scaled performance, active until the round ends).
Diamonds also level up your Event Market for better future rewards, and determine your spot on the diamond leaderboard.
Daily Calendar (if active)
Some events include a daily login calendar with themed rewards, building up to a grand prize on the final day.
Schedule
Event Market appears → Event starts → Event ends (progress tallied) → Market closes for final upgrades. Daily calendar (if present) runs throughout. Not all events run on all game worlds — check the announcement for the current event.
Balanced across eras: Quests and the Special Locomotive's performance are adjusted per era, so players in any era have a fair shot.
Single world focus: If you play on multiple worlds, only your best performance counts toward event progress.
Cooldown: The Event Market has a cooldown to prevent excessive progression, keeping things fair for casual and competitive players alike.
Career points: Awarded by final diamond leaderboard rank — top 1% get 1,000 points, next 4% get 500, top 20% get 250, top 50% get 100.
After the event: The Event Market disappears, but its level carries over to the next event of the same type. Any Special Locomotive won stays active until the game world ends.
