# Era 1 Passenger Trains

Era 1 Passenger Trains

The first Era has 3 passenger trains named after animals with one being a bonus engine.

You can open new engines by using research points generated by the [Laboratory](https://support.rail-nation.com/articles/49) building within your Train Station.  Only when you've researched the required pre-requisites can you begin to develop the next engine. At the end of each era, a coupling system is available, allowing engines to transport goods from the next era.

-   **Whale**
    
    -   Requirements:
        
        -   Research the Raven
            
        -   Research its Max. Speed upgrade
            
        -   Research Cost: 30 Research Points
            
    -   Slots: 1 | Reliability: 85% | Acceleration: 2/20 | Speed: 95 km/h | Passengers: 35
        
-   **Greyhound**
    
    -   Requirements:
        
        -   Research the Falcon
            
        -   Research its Acceleration & Tractive force upgrades
            
        -   Research Cost: 35 Research Points
            
    -   Slots: 1 | Reliability: 60% | Acceleration: 20/20 | Speed: 190 km/h | Passengers: 30
        
-   **Dragonfly (Bonus)**
    
    -   The Dragonfly is the Passenger Bonus Engine of Era 1. 
        
    -   It can be bought in the Rail Nation Shop and can be won through the Lottery or by entering competitions in Era 2
        
    -   Slots: 0 | Reliability: 100% | Acceleration: 15/20 | Speed: 170 km/h | Passengers: 40
